Bio-Med Science Academy is open to any student from any district in Ohio. Our focus is on recruiting students primarily from rural communities in Portage and other surrounding counties. Students are only admitted as rising freshmen/ninth graders. After our initial class of 70 (Class of 2016), our target enrollment is 100 per class, however that may vary year-to-year based on attrition.

 

Applications are open for one month each year from mid-January to mid-February (exact dates vary).  There are no academic admission criteria – all students who apply during that time have an equal chance of being accepted.  Once all applications are received, if there are more applicants than seats available, students will be chosen via blind lottery.  Students who are not admitted through the lottery are added to a wait list in their lottery order.  Any student who applies after the initial application period will be added to the end of the wait list.

 

Bio-Med Science Academy is a public high school. There is no charge to attend. However, there are still some course and technology fees and students will be required to wear uniforms (khakis and polos).
