Project-and-problem-based learning is at the very heart of successful STEM learning. This training program teaches the steps and practices required for project-and-problem-based learning using a cross-curricular approach. Participants will leave knowing how to create such approaches in their schools while still meeting state standards.

“Integrating technology through the curriculum”

This two-day workshop teaches attendees how to bring students, teachers and teams together using the framework of 21st century learning. Participants will learn how to use Google Apps for Education to teach critical thinking, collaboration, communication and creativity.

Course 614:
“Using Restorative Practices to Build a Collaborative School Culture”

This program uses strategies of the International Institute of Restorative Practices to effectively promote conversation and encourage students and teachers to engage in meaningful communications. The result is improved student performance, a better learning environment and improved staff/administrator interactions with peers and students.

Course 615:
“Literacy Design Collaborative”

This intensive two-day set of workshops is for teachers who want to implement, or teach others to implement, critical literacy skills. Participants will learn how to integrate rigorous reading, writing and thinking skills within their existing classroom curricula. This training also challenges teachers from various disciplines to promote literacy within subject-specific content while connecting to Common Core State Standards.

“Mathematics Design Collaborative”

The Math Design Collaborative is a set of workshops that help mathematics educators employ formative assessments that strengthen student reasoning skills and comprehension levels. Training focuses on implementation of formative assessment lessons in grades 6-12 and the new challenges that this innovative instructional technique may present to mathematics classrooms.

“The Global Education Platform”

This program examines the benefits and struggles of developing a sustainable school travel program. Participants will investigate the logistics of travel ranging from day trips to international travel. Participants will leave with the tools and framework to outline and implement a program that enriches student learning and draws on real-world applications of current educational standards.
