The Academy’s Course of Study Basics
The careers of the 21st century increasingly require mastery of digital, electronic, mathematical and technological skills. Today’s students need educational opportunities that will effectively prepare them for tomorrow’s workforce through cultivating, by building their knowledge and proficiency in complex concepts in science and math. STEM (science, technology, engineering, and mathematics) education offers the curricular and teaching methodologies to produce inquisitive, confident, and high-performing students for any number of career fields in a rapidly changing world. As an emerging leader in STEM education, Bio-Med Science Academy will not only work to ready graduates for a new economy, but all aspects of their lives.
STEM Focus
The Academy’s STEM emphasis is built on the notion that superior STEM education is essential to the vitality of the US economy, our national security, and world leadership in scientific innovation and research. To ensure that the US graduates the global STEM leaders of tomorrow — including aspiring leaders from Northeast Ohio — the Academy is forging the highest-quality model of a 21st century collaborative learning experience.
At the cornerstone of the Academy is a foundation built on an interdisciplinary education through experiential, inquiry-based learning focused on building students’ 21st century skills. Students at the Academy should be willing to participate in a collaborative and flexible learning environment that seeks to develop their personal agency in order to help them navigate and sustain in a nontraditional and less structured learning environment and take ownership of their educational journey.
